Help Us Protect Coastal Maine
Over the past decade, Shaw Institute scientists have monitored the health of the waters and wildlife of Blue Hill Bay. We have established the baseline, defended current conditions, and identified important trends (such as warming) that need attention.
Remembering our founder:
Dr. Susan Shaw
Dr. Susan Shaw was an environmental health scientist, marine toxicologist, educator, and author. She was globally recognized for her pioneering research on environmental and public health concerns, including pollutants and plasticizer chemicals, ocean pollution, flame retardants, and climate change. She founded the Marine Environmental Research Institute in 1990 (now the Shaw Institute) and for more than three decades collaborated with scientists worldwide, informed public opinion and fueled policy.
